Building the community family by family

Through support groups we plant seeds of courage, education, and advancement that boosts  individuals' self-esteem, work ethic, and quality of life. While tackling major issues in the urban community we also strive to improve self-sufficiency, community team building, and family unification.

During the 12 week program we will focus on:

    1. Developing concrete goals for each individual.
    2. Discussing social issues within the community.

    3. Linkage to community support services.
    4. Strengthening daily living skills.
    5. Job training/resume  building.
    6. Improving physical and mental health.

The Barbara Sullivan Inspiring Queens Award was created to honor the legacy of Barbara Sullivan. At a young age my  loving grandmother taught me to trust God, love myself, and help others. While doing so I should always be  poised and polished; walking tall with my head held high. This award is presented to a young Queen in her senior year of high school. A candidate must demonstrate self respect, love others, and active in the community. A Queen tries her best in all areas of life no matter the circumstances. A panel of women will choose a Queen to be honored and motivate her to continue to grow and become a model example of a true  Queen. Along with  the award, the recipient will receive a complete prom make over. Including hair, make up, and accessories for prom (dress not included). The Sullivan Project is excited to offer this Award yearly and inspiring each young Queen!.

SP believes the family and community are a puzzle and these traits are vital to connecting each piece. One person cannot change the community but if we work together to improve quality of life for each mother, father, brother, sister, grandparent, etc, the possibilities for advancement are endless!
